I have a film deal! With A&E Television Networks! They’ve optioned the rights to one of my novels, and the agreement was signed just last week. This has been a long time coming. We’ve been going back and forth for a few years now, with a couple of significant delays—including the Hollywood actors' and writers' strikes in 2023. But everything is back on track…I hope.
Honestly, the timing really isn’t all that unusual. I’ve been down this road before, starting with my first novel, Sisters and Lovers. That one made it as far as a screenplay and even got me invited to lunch with a big-name producer at Trump Tower. No, no—don’t let your mind go there (wherever that is). This was way back, before The Apprentice and long before the political landscape became what it is today.
If you’re wondering, a tiny percentage of Hollywood film option agreements actually lead to a completed film. There are so many hurdles to overcome. I’ve heard less than 10 percent make it, but don’t hold me to that figure. That’s why I’ve been quiet about these things until now, but this time feels different. We have a major—and I mean MAJOR—star attached. It’s too soon to reveal who or which novel was optioned, but I’ll keep you updated with all the behind-the-scenes moments. You’ll get an inside look at the who, what, when, and how as the project unfolds. You’ll learn as I do, since this is new to me, too.
I can’t wait to share more details—because this time, it feels like the real deal.
Can I guess who the star is?
Congrats!!!!!
